Michael Cormier-O’Leary is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. He is known as the bandleader of the shapeshifting instrumental ensemble Hour. His upcoming work for film includes musical scores for two narrative short films (‘Gribbon’, directed by Josh Kay, and ‘Shut Up, Ian’, directed by Zoe Ettinger), a feature-length documentary (‘Car Brain’, directed by Matt Ober and Reed McCoy), and a feature-length horror film (untitled project by Hayden Hall). Additionally, he has scored music for podcasts, including ‘Drifting Off with Joe Pera’, ‘Otherworld’, and season 3 of APM’s ‘Spectacular Failures’. Cormier-O’Leary is the drummer and a founding member of the indie rock band Friendship, and also performs live with power pop outfit 2nd Grade and Japanese folk legend Sachiko Kanenobu. In 2019, he founded Dear Life Records as a home for both his compositional and songwriter material. The label has since grown into a vast network of forward thinking, genre-bending artists including MJ Lenderman, Fust, Florry, Kath Bloom, Wendy Eisenberg, and more.
