Interestingly, every clock made by Aju is always made without hands. Some have questioned this, but Aju remains steadfast in his decision to keep it that way. Meanwhile, Boy, a new friend who lives opposite Aju's house, asks Arman, Aju's father, why Aju makes clocks without hands. Aju then confides that his purpose in making clockless clocks is because he is following his late mother's wish that the passage of time is under our own control and not controlled by others. The closeness between Amran, a widower, and Nida, Boy's single mother, makes Aju angry to the point where he runs away from home.
