Content: The black granite in the Serra da Capelada range formed from solidified magma during the Precambrian era, some 1,160 million years ago. The rocks were buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface until Pangea broke apart, 200 million years ago, causing a 600-meter high cliff to form. Homo sapiens sapiens appeared on Earth 200,000 years ago.
