Content: Based on the case of Ruth Snyder in 1927 and the play written in 1928 by Sophie Treadwell, throughout nine episodes a Young Woman marries for emotional and financial independence in a patriarchal 1920's America, having a child before eventually succombing to a relationship with her true lover. In an attempt to be free, she murders her husband which leads to a highly publicised court case.
